Barca’ flights take off from Knock

NOT even the threat of volcanic ash could dampen the ‘fiesta’ at Ireland West Airport Knock last Thurday when the first Ryanair flight left for the sunny Catalan coast. The new three times a week service to the hugely popular sun and city break destination of Reus-Barcelona is the third scheduled service from Knock to the Mediterranean - following the existing service to Faro and Alicante. There was a party atmosphere at the airport as the lucky passengers boarded the first flight to Barcelona which will continue for the summer months.
IWAK Managing Director, Joe Gilmore said the new service will be a cause of good news to people in the region who were disrupted by the volcanic ash.
“The addition of a third European service to Reus Barcelona with Ryanair is very welcome news for the airport and is the third new route to be launched this year in addition to the new services to Leeds-Bradford and Faro. We are confident this new service will come as welcome news to many holidaymakers in the region as Reus is near the east coast of Spain beside the sun-drenched shores of Costa Dorada,” he said.
Lesley Kane, Head of Sales and Marketing at Ryanair said they are pleased to launch their third summer sun route from Ireland West Airport Knock and added that fares start from €9.99 one way.
Rues is located close to the Costa Dorada where there’s some fabulous family-friendly resorts, the world class PortAventura theme park and two waterparks. It is located approximately an hour south of Barcelona which is one of the most visited cities in Europe.
Flights from Ireland West Airport Knock to Reus-Barcelona will depart on Tuesdays and Saturdays at 08:55am and will return into Ireland West Airport on the same days at 08:30am.  On Thursdays, flights will depart Ireland West Airport Knock at 11:35am and arrive into Ireland West Airport Knock from Reus-Barcelona on Thursdays at 11:10am.  For further information on fares and to book flights log onto www.ryanair.com.
