IF Fiona Hoban was burdened by the formalities involved with the launch of her book, ‘Take a Weight off your Mind’ she certainly did not show it.
In fact, according to Mr Sean Staunton, former Editor of The Mayo News, the author enthralled the large crowd with her wonderful wit at the book’s recent launch in Matt Molloy’s bar, Westport.
Officiating, Mr Staunton said that this innovative book had been written and designed to help people have a healthy relationship with their minds, their bodies and the food they eat.
“‘Take a Weight off your Mind’ is not another diet book, in fact, its whole purpose is to help people to stop dieting, eat sensibly and put an end to erratic or volatile eating,” Sean Staunton said.
“The book we are launching tonight is based on Fiona’s many years of working with those who struggle with issues around weight and food,” he continued.
‘Take a Weight off your Mind’ addresses a broad range of issues relating to our obsession with food. It examines the history of dieting, as well as the many fad diets that have become part of a multi-million euro industry. The author also focuses on the simple psychological causes of overeating and the cynical manner in which that has been exploited.
Readers are offered practical steps in an eight-week programme, which has already been successfully delivered around the country by qualified practitioners.
A Philosophy and Sociology graduate, Fiona Hoban runs a private counselling and hypnotherapy practise in Westport. She also lectures with the National Counselling Institute of Ireland and gives motivational talks and workshops on a wide range of topics. Her work is underpinned by the promotion of a creative and holistic approach to eating and weight loss.
Published by Londubh Books, ‘Take a Weight off your Mind’ is available in all bookshops for €12.99.
