Investigation into fatal electrocution in Swinford

THE Health and Safety Authority (HSA) have launched an extensive investigation into the fatal electrocution of a man outside Swinford last Friday.
Father-of-four Padraig Gavaghan, Drimina, Tourlestrane, Co Sligo and Knox, Killasser, Swinford, died at about 1pm on Friday last during a workplace accident at a farmyard building site at Meelick on the Foxford Road.  The 42-year-old man is believed to have been uploading materials onto a truck-mounted crane which came into contact with an overhead power line, resulting in his electrocution. He died at the scene.
The HSA attended the building site directly after the accident and subsequently launched an investigation into events surrounding the fatality.
Mr Gavaghan was laid to rest yesterday (Monday) at Kilmactigue cemetery following funeral Mass at at Attracta’s Church, Tourlestrane.
He is survived by his wife Paula; daughter, Louise, and sons, Alan, Colin and Stephen; his mother Margaret and family.
