Global climate strike in Castlebar this Friday

Fridays for Future Mayo, supported by XR Mayo, will be organising a local climate strike in Castlebar this Friday, November 29, as part of the worldwide global climate strike that day. Actions will be taking place in over 150 different countries and in half a dozen locations around Ireland, including Mayo.
Siblings Maude and Theo Cullen-Mouze (pictured) from Clare Island have both been striking outside the County Council offices in Castlebar every Friday since the beginning of September.
Maude (13), who attends Sancta Maria College in Louisburgh, is organising the Castlebar strike this Friday, and all are welcome to attend. “If you care for your future, join us on strike, as no one is too small to make a difference,” said Maude.
She is hoping that people in the Castlebar area (or further afield) will use their lunch break to join the protest against government inaction in the face of the climate crisis.
Meanwhile, her brother Theo will be attending the Dublin strike, as he is then travelling by ferry and train to the COP 25 UN conference in Madrid as one of two Irish delegates for Fridays for Future.
In addition to the Castlebar strike, which will take place at The Mall, Coastal Communities for Climate Action is organising a strike in Westport, between 1pm and 2pm at the Octagon.
