GARDAÍ in Castlebar are appealing to the public for information on a hit and run in Breaffy that has left a 14-year-old girl hospitalised.
The incident occurred on Monday night, when the teenager was struck by a car while walking her dog along the Cottage Road, Breaffy, sometime between the hours of 8.30pm and 8.50pm. The vehicle, which was described as a dark coloured car, did not stop. The girl was removed to Mayo University Hospital in an ambulance.
Gardaí are appealing for anyone who may have been in the vicinity of the Cottage Road, Breaffy Road or the Belcarra Road around the time of the incident and may have noticed anything suspicious to contact them. Anyone with a dashcam and was in the area at the time is also asked to contact Castlebar Garda Station on 094 9022222.
