Gardaí who investigated the death of a 25 year-old man found on Quay Road, Newport, in the early hours of Christmas Day morning, December 25, are the treating the incident as a tragic accident.
Christopher McNally, formerly of Oak Park, Newport, was found unresponsive close to the apartment where he lived by a neighbour. Gardaí were called to the scene when Mr McNally’s body was discovered but he was pronounced dead at the scene. His body was removed to Mayo University Hospital, Castlebar where a post mortem took place. Gardaí believe Mr Nally’s tragic death was as a result of injuries sustained in a fall.
The 25 year-old was from a very respected family in the Newport area and he worked at a local oyster farm in Tiernaur. He is survived by his heartbroken parents Martin McNally and Mary Rose Walsh, sister Tracey, brother Martin Jnr, and a wide circles of family and friends. Mr McNally will be reposing in St Dominic’s Funeral Home, Newport this evening (Thursday) from 5pm until 7pm. His funeral will arrive to St Patrick’s Church, Newport tomorrow morning (Friday) at 10.15am, with burial afterwards in Kilbride Cemetery.
