Sustainable grocery store opens in Westport

News

PAX Whole Foods and Eco Goods opens this week in Westport, at the bottom of Market Lane. The shop is a sustainable grocery selling food, personal care items and cleaning products in bulk. Customers can then dispense the amount they need into their own containers, to eliminate single-use resources like plastic and paper and encourage reuse of materials. Containers can be of any shape or size, of any type of material, as they will be weighed before and after filling to subtract the weight of the container from the total weight. Be sure to save glass jars, plastic tubs, metal containers, and bags of all types to stock up on organic grains, legumes, nuts, seeds, dried fruit, baking ingredients, herbs, spices, blended tea, coffee, oil, vinegar, liquid sweeteners and other condiments, as well as shampoo and conditioner, hand and body wash, face and body cream and various household cleaning products.
In addition, many personal care items packaged without plastic, such as deodorant, soap, toothpaste and mouthwash, toothbrushes, facial pads, menstrual cups and pads, will be available. Reusable zero waste accessories like water bottles, coffee cups, containers, lunch boxes, food wraps, cutlery as well as great gifts made from upcycled materials round out the extensive selection unique offered by PAX for the first time in Mayo.
