News

A man faces 19 burglary charges in relation to a spate of burglaries in the Castlebar area in the last ten months.
Patrick Graven of 7, Erris Flats, Castle Street, Castlebar appeared before Castlebar District Court last Wednesday.
He was remanded on bail to appear before the court again on March 21 for directions from the Director of Public Prosecutions.
Garda Rowland McIntyre told the court he arrested Patrick Graven on February 8 last and, the following day, he was charged on two counts. The accused made no reply to either charge.
Garda McIntyre added that before the court sitting, he further charged him with an additional 17 charges. Again, there was no reply to any of the charges.
The court was told the total amount in question is €1,970 from April 2017 to this month.
Defending solicitor Tom Walsh said his client is a single man on jobseekers’ allowance. He applied for legal aid, which was granted by Judge Mary Devins, who remanded Graven on bail.
