Engineer badly hurt at Ballinrobe farm-machinery plant

A 60-year-old man has been airlifted to hospital following a workplace accident at McHale Engineering in Ballinrobe this afternoon.
A spokesperson from the Health and Safety Authority (HSA) confirmed to The Mayo News that a male was ‘badly injured’ and that an inspector from the HSA will be attending the scene today to carry out an investigation. Gardaí have said that the man’s injuries are not life threatening.
Gardaí and two ambulances attended at the scene at approximately 12 noon following the accident, which occurred on an assembly line at the farm machinery production plant on the Castlebar Road in the town.
The engineer, who lives locally, was airlifted from nearby by an Irish Air Corps helicopter to University College Hospital, Galway.
