Two Mayo girls will take part in this year’s Late Late Toy Show. Ciara May Ball (12) from Louisburgh and Fionnuala Boyle (13) from Crossmolina will make their TV debuts when the live show airs this Friday, December 1.
Both girls will be showing off their singing talents to the Irish public. Their journey began earlier this year, after they took part in Late Late Toy Show auditions.
For Ciara May, Friday can’t come soon enough. “I’m nervous but more excited,” she told The Mayo News yesterday (Monday). “We auditioned in September … We sent in a video to RTÉ. We had a second audition then in Galway, and then they called us about two weeks later to let us know.
“We have been up there [in Dublin] the last three Sundays in a row. Yesterday I met everyone, and it was really great,” she added.
A former Irish Dancing Connaught champion, Ciara May took up singing after breaking her foot four times in two years. After spending two years off the stage, Ciara began singing and found herself a new talent.
Similarly, Fionnuala can’t wait for the chance to showcase her talents to Toy Show viewers at home and abroad.
Speaking to The Mayo News, her mother Claire Gough said: “She’s so excited about it all, but a little bit nervous too. It’s a great thing. It was her aunty who said for us to send in the video of her singing … and it has went from there.
“We were up [in Dublin on] Wednesday … now we can’t wait to get going for the actual show,” she added.
Fionnuala inherited her talents from her mother, who was once a very well-known musician who played gigs all over the county.
To see Ciara May and Fionnuala on The Late Late Toy Show next weekend, tune into RTÉ One at 9.35pm on Friday night.
