Newport man get top Goldman Sachs job

NEWPORT native Richard Chambers, aged 34, has been promoted to Managing Director of Interest Rates Derivatives Trading at Goldman Sachs Bank in New York, following an announcement by the company on November 8.
Richard was educated at the Holy Family Primary, Newport and St Jarlath’s Secondary School, Tuam. He was conferred at the National University of Ireland, Galway 2005 with a First Class Honours Degree BSC in Financial Maths and Economics. In 2006 he obtained a First Class Hon Degree a Masters degree in Finance at Warwick Business School, Warwick University. His first appointment was director of Short Term Interest Rates Derivatives Trading with BNP Paribas in London and New York. He co-founded Bua Book in 2012. In 2013 he joined Blue Crest Capital Management LCO, New York as a Portfolio Manager. In 2015 he joined Goldman Sachs, Manhattan, New York as an Interest Rates Trader and has now been appointed MD of Interest Rate Derivatives Trading desk.
He is son of Frank Chambers, former senator and county councillor, and Phil Chambers, Main Street, Newport.
Frank stated last week: “Richard owes part of his success to his former educators at The Holy Family Primary School, Newport and in particular St Jarlath’s College, Tuam. Those schools and universities played an important role in fostering his educational development.
His grandfather RG Browne, Shop Street, Westport, whom he is named after, also had a great business and mathematical acumen. He would be very proud of him today. As his parents and family, Lisa, Francis and Sarah, we are all very proud of Richard and we wish him every success in the future.”
Richard is married to Lyndsey Falconer, Corporate Lawyer with A & L Goodbodys, New York. He resides in Manhattan, New York with his wife and baby daughter.  Richard takes up his new position in January 2018.
