House prices in Co Mayo have risen by 7 percent in the last year, according Daft.ie’s latest House Price Report, released on June 30. The average asking price for a home in Mayo now stands at €145,618.
Since the second quarter 2016, Mayo asking prices have risen by 7 percent, and asking prices for homes today are now 31 percent higher than they were at their lowest ever point.
The rate of year-on-year increases in the Connacht-Ulster region has slowed, however, returning to single digits. In late 2016, the region had the fastest house price growth in the country (12 percent, compared to 5 percent) – it now has the slowest (8 percent, and 12 percent in Dublin).
The limited housing supply continues to affect the market. There were just over 6,000 properties for sale in Connacht-Ulster in June. This is a rise from 5,700 three months previously, but well below year-ago figures (6,900).
Of those properties up for sale, just under half (48 percent) of all properties in Connacht-Ulster find a buyer within four months, down somewhat from a year ago (54 percent).
The average asking prices in the county are  currently €50,000 for a one-bed apartment; €68,000 for a two- bed terraced house; €99,000 for a three-bed semi-detached house; €184,000 for a  four-bed bungalow and €221,000 for a five-bed detached house.
