The Carey family in Belmullet have done it again. Their newsagents sold the winning ticket in yesterday’s Daily Million draw, making yet another one of the family’s customers a millionaire.
Players in Belmullet and the wider Erris Community have been urged to check their tickets to see if they are the latest Lotto millionaire.
Carey’s Newsagents on Main Street in Belmullet has now sold an impressive five top prizes in National Lottery games. In 2016, the family celebrated selling the winning ticket for a whopping €13.8 million Lotto jackpot, the eighth highest Lotto jackpot in the National Lottery’s 30-year history.
The Carey family have previously been dubbed the ‘luckiest family in National Lottery history’, with three family members – siblings Hugh, Tony and Teresa Carey – each selling winning National Lottery tickets in excess of €30 million in three separate shops in Belmullet, Loughrea and Dublin.
Carey’s Newsagents in Belmullet have also sold a €500,000 EuroMillions Plus top prize in 2015, while in 2012, the lucky Belmullet shop sold a Lotto Plus 1 top prize of €350,000 and another Lotto jackpot of €710,422 in 1991.
Indeed Belmullet is becoming known as a lucky place to play the Lotto, with the McIntyre family winning €11 million after they bought the winning ticket in Brogan’s Eurospar in Belmullet in 2011.
Daily Million draws take place at both 2pm and 9pm, seven days a week, for just €1 per play and the winning ticket was from the Thursday, March 9, 9pm draw.
The winning numbers for the Daily Million jackpot were: 23, 27, 29, 30, 33 and 39, and the bonus number was 5. The National Lottery asks all players to check their tickets.
