News

MISSED The late Pearse Gannon.

Neill O’Neill

THE funeral will take place in Westport this week of Pearse Gannon, who was found dead in his apartment in Berlin on February 15. The 33 year old from Deerpark East on the Newport Road will repose in Navin’s Funeral Home on Thursday, March 9, between 6pm and 8pm, and his funeral Mass will take place in St Mary’s Parish Church at 11am on Friday, followed by burial at Murrisk Abbey Cemetery.
There was much shock when news broke of Pearse’s passing last month. He was the son of the late businessman John (Blondie) Gannon and the late Bláthnaid (Bláth) Gannon (nee Hughes), who was the proprietor of Doherty’s Pharmacy at the corner of High Street and Shop Street for many decades. Pearse is survived by his sister Emer and other relatives and friends in Westport, where his family are very well-known and highly regarded.
