POLICE in London are seeking the help of the public in locating a Mayo woman who has been missing from her home since before the New Year.
Mary Higgins, who is originally from Erriff outside of Westport, was last seen by her son at her home in Stonebridge, Brent, in north London on Tuesday, December 27 at 8pm.
The 54-year-old woman was born and reared in Erriff but has lived in London for a number of years. She is well-known in the Irish community and her family have made a special appeal to the Irish community in London for help in finding her.
“North-west London is where she knows best. As a family we are getting increasingly concerned for her welfare and if anyone has seen her please call police on 101,” the family statement read.
Ms Higgins is described as white, of medium build with hazel eyes and shoulder length brown hair and having an Irish accent. At the time of her disappearance, she is believed to have been wearing a dark hooded top, tracksuit bottoms and a dark jacket.
A helicopter from the National Police Air Service was involved in the search for Mary Higgins two days after her disappearance but as of yet there has been no sighting of her.
Brent Metropolitan Police Service who are investigating the disappearance described it as being out of character.
“Mary’s disappearance is unusual, and her family are becoming more worried with each passing day. If you have seen Mary or know where she is, we would urge you to contact police immediately,” said a Brent MPS spokesperson.
