BALLINROBE Musical Society has poured itself a ‘cup of ambition’ and chosen Dolly Parton’s ‘9 to 5, the Musical’ for its 2017 production.
Following on from the success of this year’s production of the hit comedy ‘The Addams Family’, the committee decided to once again go down the comedy route to give audiences some light-hearted entertainment.
Speaking to The Mayo News, society chairman Des Treacy said he was confident in the decision in choosing a relatively new show.
“We’re delighted that we will be performing this new show for the first time in Connaught. It will be a great fun show for both the cast and audiences. It has a great mix of comedy and music composed by Dolly Parton,” said Treacy.
Colin Hughes from Tullamore will be taking the reins as director for the production and will be joined by Musical Director Finola Higgins and Choreographer Aoife McClafferty.
The cast will convene in early October to start work on the production which will hit the stage from February 19 to 25.
“Audiences will be leaving the auditorium really uplifted as it is a very funny show and they will be humming the tunes on their way home. It will be a show that’s not to be missed,” added the society chairman.
