Series of thefts in Mayo

GARDAÍ across Mayo are seeking help with a number of thefts from vehicles on Saturday and with an incident in which a new jeep was stolen and found crashed two hours later.
The black Toyota Landcruiser, with registration number 07 MO 4531, was taken from Oxford Cross near Kiltimagh at 5.30pm on Saturday and was found crashed two hours later in Oughtoose, Straide. What is unusual about this theft is that the jeep had a trailer which contained two cows attached to the back of it and the perpetrators went to the bother of unhitching this before taking the vehicle.
Gardaí are confident that somebody will have seen this occurring or spotted the jeep travelling on the public roads in the period prior to it being found abandoned at 7.30pm and have urged anyone with information to contact them in Swinford on 094 9251115.
Meanwhile, Gardaí in Ballina are investigating the theft of a camcorder, a phone and some sports clothing from a blue Ford Transit van that was parked in the car park of Enniscrone Golf Club on Saturday afternoon.
Gardaí in Ballina are also investigating the theft of a handbag from a White Toyota Avensis which was parked outside Knockmore Community Centre at 3.15pm on Saturday. Anyone with information about either of these incidents can contact the Gardaí on 096 21422.
Another similar burglary occurred at Bertra Beach outside Westport on Saturday when the back window of a car was smashed and a handbag stolen around 6.10pm. Gardaí wish to speak to a person seen in the vicinity of the beach around this time who is described as wearing a red t-shirt and having a very short hair cut.
Gardaí in Westport can be contacted on 098 25555 if anyone has any information about this crime.
