Body identified as missing man John Kerrigan
A body found in a field in the townland of Kilkeeran, three miles outside Ballinrobe, has been identified as that of missing man John Kerrigan (76).
Mr Kerrigan’s body was discovered by a local agricultural contractor in a field where silage was being cut.
The discovery was made at approximately 4pm on Tuesday last, June 18.
The body was removed to Mayo General Hospital for a post-mortem examination. DNA analysis was conducted to confirm the identity of the remains.
Mr Kerrigan is believed to have died of natural causes. He had been missing from his apartment on Main Street, Ballinrobe, since May 20.
Local searches had taken place.
