Gardaí in Ballinrobe are looking for witnesses to a serious assault which took place in Cahir, near Lough Mask, on Sunday afternoon. Three members of the Polish community were at home in their rented accommodation in the area when they were assaulted by a group of people who entered the house. The two males and one female sustained serious injuries in the incident and gardaí were alerted to the scene after being informed of the assault by an ambulance crew who removed the victims to Mayo General Hospital.
The house and its contents were damaged in the attack, as was a car which was parked outside. The injuries sustained by the victims were described as ‘serious but not critical’. Gardaí believe the attack may have been perpetrated by up to five people.

Gardaí in Castlebar, meanwhile, are looking for witnesses to an assault which took place in the town in the early hours of Saturday morning. A man was walking between Fr Meehan Place and Springfield Court around 12.30am when he was set upon by three people wielding an iron bar or baseball bat. The victim, suffered a broken leg in the alleged assault. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Gardaí on 094 9022222.
