WESTPORT Town Council has received an official complaint about ‘indiscriminate dumping’ at the entrance to Horkan’s Hill, off the Newport Road. Ms Anne Moore, the Town Clerk, confirmed to The Mayo News yesterday that the local authority received a complaint on Friday last about the dumping at the entrance field to the estate.
“We will investigate the contents of the rubbish and try to identify who may be responsible. If there is some identification in the litter we will issue a fine,” Ms Moore said.
Meanwhile, a spokesman for the residents told The Mayo News that they were aware of the identity of the person responsible.
“This is not the first time such an incident has occurred. The residents would like the person to know that they have been identified and unless they desist from the practice their name will be handed over to the Litter Warden,” said resident, Tom Flynn.
