Eight men to face trial for incidents of violent disorder in Kiltimagh


Eight men who are alleged to have been involved in a violent altercation in Kiltinagh in 2011 are to face trial in Castlebar Circuit Court in January .
The incidents are alleged to have taken place at two locations in Kiltimagh - Main Street, Kiltimagh and Sliabh Cairn, Kiltimagh - on October 3, 2011. Seven men who are alleged to have taken part in the incidents appeared before Castlebar District Court last week where they were served with the book of evidence and forwarded to appear before Castlebar Circuit Court on January 22, 2013.
The seven men served with the book of evidence are David Byrne of Bushfield, Kiltimagh who is charged with violent disorder at Main Street and production of an article in course of a dispute; Damien Gallagher of Bushfield, Kiltimagh who is charged with violent disorder at Main Street and Sliabh Cairn; Brian Gallagher of Bushfield, Kiltimagh who is charged with violent disorder at Sliabh Cairn; Simon Maher of Slanemore, Mullingar, Co Westmeath who is charged with violent disorder and assault causing harm on Main Street; Wayne McGrath of Polronaghan, Kiltimagh who is charged with violent disorder at Main Street; Aiden Creighton, Ballinamore, Kiltimagh who is charged with violent disorder at Sliabh Cairn; and David Walsh of Walshtown, Kiltimagh who is charged with violent disorder at Sliabh Cairn.
Gary Cronin of Bohola Road, Kiltimagh who is charged with violent disorder at Sliabh Cairn was not present in court because of health difficulties according to his solicitor. He is due to appear before Castlebar District Court on December 18 for service of the book of evidence.
