‘Pretty Woman’ Julia Roberts continues her holiday in west Mayo
HOLLYWOOD golden girl Julia Roberts was continuing her holiday in Mayo today (Tuesday), taking her three young children to enjoy the amenities of Westport House and Pirate Adventure Park.
In the company of an unidentified male who appeared to be a minder/driver, the family were spotted by several stunned onlookers enjoying the sunny conditions in the seaside town of Westport.
As exclusively revealed by The Mayo News earlier today, the Academy Award-winning actress has been holidaying in the west Mayo area for several days. She has kept a low profile during that time. Wearing a baseball cap, dark sunglasses, jeans and a red top today, she looked like any other mother out enjoying the day with her young children.
However, one person who spotted the ‘Pretty Woman’ star said there was no mistaking that Hollywood smile, though some onlookers did think they were mistaken in their belief that they had seen one of the most recognisable women on the planet casually strolling around the Westport area.
On Sunday, the family visited Old Head beach near Louisburgh, where it is believed they are staying. They stopped at the Ice Cream Parlour and Café at Old Head and queued up for ice cream like everybody else. Despite being instantly recognisable, Julia and her friends and their children were left to their own devices to enjoy their trip to the beach.
It is not known what has attracted Julia Roberts to Mayo, exactly where she is staying, or how long she will remain in the area. One theory is that she is using a house outside Louisburgh belonging to Tamasin Day Lewis, sister of actor Daniel Day Lewis, and she was also spotted in Durkin’s grocery store in Louisburgh at the weekend.
The star, who remains one of the highest paid actors in history, is not the first A-lister from Tinseltown to visit the area on holidays. The Mayo News caught up with funny man Will Ferrell when he stayed in Westport a few years ago, while actor Hugh Grant has been a regular visitor to the area over the last two decades.
