TWEETING up Croagh Patrick is the latest novel fundraising initiative about to attract climbers to the holy mountain. Whether St Patrick would approve is a moot point but the upcoming ‘ Highest Tweet Up’ will benefit Mayo Roscommon Hospice and other charities.
Organised by Westport-based Olwen Dawe and other members of the Irish SME community, the second Highest Tweet Up event will take place on June 16 next.
SME owners, sole traders, business people and the general public are welcome to participate.
Olwen Dawr told The Mayo News they were tapping into the goodness of people and supporting a very worthy cause in the process. Hundreds, if not thousands, of families in Mayo and Roscommon had availed of the very caring work of the Mayo-Roscommon Hospice
The Croagh Patrick climb will be the second ‘Highest Tweet Up’ event. The idea was devised by a Twitter-based SME support group in the west – Kehlan Kirwan, Focus SME magazine, Debi Harper, Tús Nua Designs and Olwen Dawe, Irish Business Intelligence. They created the ‘hashtag’ #SMEcommunity as a way for small business owners to share information, ask questions and provide support to one another.
Earlier this year the Donegal SME Community organised the first ‘Tweet-Up’ climb of Mount Errigal, when 100 climbers raised funds for Breast Cancer.
