No energy for election battle - Lavelle

WESTPORT publican Chris Lavelle (pictured) has declared that he will not be standing in the General Election.
The prominent Westport Publican told The Mayo News that running in opposition to both Enda Kenny and Michael Ring in Westport would be a tough battle.
“I won’t be running in the election I’m afraid, even after the events of last week. Running against people like Enda Kenny and Michael Ring would mean a very tough battle and I don’t have the energy for it.
“I really do hope someone with energy will be coming out in every constituency,” Mr Lavelle told The Mayo News after the shock decision of the Green Party to pull out of Government.
Mr Lavelle sparked controversy in early January when he announced his intention to contest the General Election. A number of people attended a public meeting in Westport to discuss Mr Lavelle proposals, with a minority heckling him.
