The country music scene has become a happy hunting ground for Irish artists in recent times. With the Emerald Isle boasting such stars as Nathan Carter, Declan Nerney and Mike Denver, Irish country-music lovers have been spoilt for choice for homegrown talent.
Among the latest Irish singer to arrive at the forefront of the country-music industry is Crosmolina native Stuart Moyles. Stuart has been making a name for himself in the industry over the last couple of years, and 2017 looks set to be his most successful year yet.
Moyles has topped the iTunes charts on two occasions this year, firstly with his single ‘Jessie’, back in February, and most recently last month with his latest single, a version of the Bob Dylan classic ‘You Ain’t Going Nowhere’.

Lake take
The video that goes along with the latest tune is a little different from your average music video. Stuart can be seen playing a piano in the outdoors in various areas across Mayo, most notably in the middle of Doolough lake.
“The video was filmed across three areas in Mayo, those being Doolough, Aasleigh Falls and White Strand in Louisburgh,” Stuart Moyles told The Mayo News last week.
“We were scouting for a lake that we could get it into, and we came up with this. The lake can vary from about four to six feet in the middle of it. My brothers built a little platform in the middle of the lake for the piano to stand on for the video,” he said.
“We had to get a punt to cart out the blocks first and then the piano and then myself. It’s a three-legged, handcrafted piano, so it was all the more difficult to setup. We had to put it upside down in the curragh and then had to flip it over a certain way so it wouldn’t get wet in the water,” he added.
“It took hours to setup but we got there eventually. I was sat in the water whilst they were filming the video for three hours. I was froze out of it, but it was a great experience,” he recalled.

Hectic
Its been a hectic year so far for the Crossmolina man, and there are more busy times in store. “I am going on tour with Nathan Carter in October for a week to Spain. I’m also going on tour with the Three Amigos shortly after that too,” he said.  “I also have a 12-track studio album coming out in September, so that will be one to look out for. We are hoping to have a launch night in Mayo for it too,” he added.
