UP and coming Mayo band Hurricane Highway are very much looking forward to playing on RTÉ’s Saturday night chat show, The Ray D’Arcy Show, this weekend.
The band is led by Westport musician and singer Ed Holland and guitarist Kevin Collins, a Dublin native who has been resident in Old Head in Louisburgh for the last 20 years (both are pictured above).
Last year was a breakthrough year for the band, which enjoyed great success with their last four single releases. Their single ‘Keep them Kisses Comin’ has topped 750,000 hits on YouTube alone, and this track was included in Mid West Radio’s Christmas CD, as it was one of the most requested songs on radio over the last year.
The band also appeared on Irish TV’s Christmas Special with Daniel O’Donnell, the Fureys and others just before Christmas. Over the last 18 months they have appeared on numerous TV shows and toured in the US.
They are releasing a new single and video in February and a new album this summer.
The band was formed by chance in 2014 with Ed and Kevin decided they were going to put a band together and that they would only do top-quality songs and recordings and also high performance videos.
“Last year was a fantastic year for the band, and now it’s great to get 2016 off to a flying start by appearing on prime-time national television. We are very much looking forward to Saturday night,” said Kevin Collins.
The band appear on the Ray D’Arcy Show this coming Saturday night, January 9. The show starts at 9.35pm.
