Stress, genetics and a poor skin care routine can lead to large open pores. Not only a troublesome and unsightly condition, enlarged pores can lead to further and complicated outbreaks of acne and spots. Sebum-clogged pores can also make skin lose its natural texture and elasticity.
Unfortunately, pores cannot be forced to disappear or shrink overnight. However, there are different skin treatments that can help.
Skin care
Firstly, choose a facewash containing the antioxidant ingredient vitamin A or retinol to help clear the skin. It is also important to exfoxiate to help reduce the amount of dead skin on the face and help maintain fresh and clear skin. Always apply a moisturising cream that contains a sun-protection factor of 15 or higher. Keep yourself hydrated with plenty of water, which enhances the appearance of skin.
Microdermabrasion
Microdermabrasion treatment is very effective in the treatment of open enlarged pores. It clears out the blocked pores, leaving the skin clearer, smoother, stimulated and full of vitality. A sterile probe is placed on the skin; crystals are released directly on to the skin; and a vacuum removes and releases all the skin’s impurities.
The treatment focuses on the problem areas to smooth out the pores and eliminate blackheads.
However, microdermabrasion can actually spread an acne infection, so it is important to seek out the correct advise on whether the treatment will suit your skin.
