The seasons are changing, and as the weather changes from chilly to warm (and back again!), our skin can get dry and dehydrated. Central heating, cool winds, stinging hailstones and sudden sunbursts all play havoc with your skin’s moisture levels.
Luckily, there are many natural home remedies. Switching to a gentle pH-balanced facial cleanser can benefit greatly. Gently massaging the face with warm almond oil will rehydrate the most tired skins, and brighten the dullest of complexions.
Exfoliation is is also important for the healing of dry skin. Dead skin cells can, over time, build up and become unresponsive to lotions and creams. In order for your moisturiser to penetrate deep into the skin, gently exfoliate to help stimulate fresh skin cells and reveal fresh, radiant skin.
Using a good moisturiser frequently will help boost cell renewal, stimulate collagen and protect against free radicals. Ensure your moisturiser has a UVA and UVB filters to protect the skin from the harsh environment.
Lastly, think about your diet. It’s best to avoid caffeine, smoking and alcohol, which all deplete your skin of vitamin C. You should also increase your omega 3 fatty acids intake by eating nuts and oily fish and by taking flax-seed oil.
