Try out a triathlon in Westport
Áine Ryan
FIRST-TIME triathletes are welcome to participate in an upcoming triathlon, scheduled to be held in Westport on Saturday, July 16 next. Organised by Pulse Triathlon Club, which is based in both Dublin and Westport, the course has been set to showcase some of the most picturesque land and seascapes around Westport’s spectacular coastline.
Starting at 8.30am, the race involves a 750-metre swim along the Quay, a 22.5km cycle past Murrisk and back to Westport. It then culminates with a 5km run from the pier head in through the grounds of historic Westport House.
Organiser Georgia McMillan said: “We would love to get as many local people as possible and the course is very appropriate for first-time triathletes, although a racing licence from Triathlon Ireland is needed but can be bought online.”
Pulse Triathlon Club is a club of keen triathletes, of every age, who swim, cycle and run in Dublin and Westport.
