The Old Fair Day has been a Tubbercurry institution for many years. The event was revived and given new life back in the 1980s and has become a major annual attraction ever since. Many of the big names on the entertainment scene, from Big Tom to Isla Grant, have played the festival, which always attracts a major crowd.
A special concert show to help raise funds for the Old Fair Day will be held in St Bridget’s Hall, Tubbercurry, on Sunday, June 13 at 8pm. Achill singer James Kilbane will headline the show, and he is looking forward to meeting many friends from that region on the night.
Kilbane’s special guests will be the very talented Sinéad McDermott from Fourmilehouse and the Inishfree Tenors. There will be a warm selection of songs from Irish, country and gospel with many timeless favourites among the repertoire.
Tickets are available from Cards and Gifts in Swinford; The Bargain Box, Charlestown; Gillespie Sports in Tubbercurry; Lavin’s Menswear in Ballymote; Veritas in Sligo; as well as direct from Paul at 087 9558441 or any of the Old Fair Day Festival committee.
