Road test your band

IMRO (Irish Music Rights Organisation) is calling for entries for the 2010 IMRO Showcase Tour. First hosted in 1992, Ireland’s most established new-band showcase has provided a live platform for scores of up and coming Irish musicians over the years. Recent acts to have featured include Fight Like Apes, Declan O’Rourke, Halves and the Delorentos, to name but a few.
Commenting on his experience with the tour, Ronan Yourell from Delorentos said: “It was an important step in the development of our band as we gained invaluable experience through the gigs and also met some really cool people!”
Bands and artists who wish to be considered for a place on the 2010 tour should send a website or MySpace link to showcase@imro.ie before Friday, February 12. Successful acts will be notified in early March. The gigs will run through March and April.
The IMRO Showcase Tour 2010 will feature live shows in the following venues across Ireland: The Limelight & Katy Daly’s, Belfast (March 25); Crawdaddy, Dublin (March 26 and April 1); Cyprus Avenue, Cork (April 3); Spirit Store, Dundalk (April 9); Crawdaddy, Dublin (April 10); Mason’s Bar, Derry (April 15); Late Lounge, Kildare (April 16); Cellar Bar, Draperstown (April 17); Sugar Club, Dublin (April 23); and Dolan’s, Limerick (April 24).
The tour then culminates in a Best Of Tour bash on April 30 in the Dublin Academy which will be attended by a host of big names in the music industry.
