Based in Killadoon, the Sons of Gingerbread are a three-piece band with an original and dynamic sound stemming from a huge variety of influences.
The band draws on hard rock, funky acoustic numbers, soulful blues and epic compositions to create a distinct sound that endears them to crowds wherever they play. Previous venues include The Button Factory in Dublin, Kenny’s of Lahinch, The Kings Head and The Crane Bar in Galway, the Life Festival and the Knockanstockan Festival. The boys also appeared on ‘Teens in the Wild’ on RTÉ TV.
Last year also saw Sons of Gingerbread play some great gigs in Co Mayo home and touring with the likes of Niwel Tsumbu, Hat fitz and Cara Robinson, Baby Gramps, Kíla’s Ronan O Snodaigh, Michael Messer and Ed Genis and New Secret Weapon.
This year will hopefully be the year that it all clicks for the boys from Killadoon. They have 20 original songs spanning all genres ready to be unleashed, and a possible album in the bag.
To witness Sons of Gingerbread live, head to the Islander Bar, Westport, where the lads have just signed up for a residency: Starting on Friday, February 5, they will play every second Friday for the foreseeable. This coming summer, the band will play at the Castlebar Blues Festival and other venues around the country.
