Above and Below the Tide

Going Out

TIDAL TRAD Sligo band Above and Below the Tide.

Sligo trad-fusion group Above and Below the Tide will entertain at Matt Molloy’s, Westport, on February 28, at 8pm. On the go since 2014, the band’s five talented members boast years of experience in a wide range of genres, which they are now using to create a new sound with their own original work.
Dave McLoughlin plays bouzouki, vocals and guitar; Anna Houston of No Crows fame is on cello and mandolin; fellow No Crows member Ray Coen plays fiddle and electric guitar; Collette Sheerin of The Candles plays flute and vocals; and Bernard Tohill of The Blowings plays guitar. Influences include everything from Planxty and the Bothy Band to Ennio Morricone and Arvo Part to Black Sabbath and Slayer.
Above and Below the Tide’s critically acclaimed latest album ‘Deeper Blue’ has received plenty of airplay on  RTÉ 1, Lyric FM and elsewhere – and now Westport audiences have the chance to hear the heart-stirring music live.
