Gráinne to grace The Gallery

Going Out

‘JUST WONDERFUL’ Singer-songwriter Gráinne Cotter.

Jazz-folk singer-songwriter Gráinne Cotter is set to make a welcome return to The Gallery Wine & Tapas Bar in Brewery place, Westport,  as part of her 2019 Irish tour. She will perform there on ‘St Valentine’s Eve’, Wednesday, February 13, from 9pm – with vocals and melodies guaranteed to set the heart aflutter.
Gráinne’s musical background is as varied as her vocal range. The Clare native, who also plays the fiddle, was born into a family steeped in traditional Irish music. She then discovered a love of jazz and song composition in university, and was given the opportunity to study in Berklee College of Music in Boston for a summer.
She spent another summer in Paris, and she accredits her powerful lyrics to her Parisian adventures. Returning to Ireland, she moved to the cultural hub of Galway and set up a talented group, who helped her realise her wish to create an album of her work.
Following the release of her new album, ‘Tides’ she has been added to the RTÉ 1 recommended playlist, and has been played by such discerning presenters as John Creedon, Ronan Collins and Lillian Smith. Newstalk’s Pat Kenny was blown away when he heard her sing, describing her songs as ‘absolutely beautiful … just wonderful’.
The audience at The Gallery can expect haunting vocals, beautiful jazz arrangements and a folksy feel. For a taste of what’s in store, visit www.grainnecottermusic.com.
