Old habits die hard

Going Out

COMEDY CAPER Conor O’Neill (Paul), Mairéad Ryan (Sally) and Seamus McNally (Fr Cheville) on stage during rehearsals for ‘Drinking Habits 2’.

St Patrick’s Drama Group is proving that it’s not easy to kick the habit. After the runaway success of ‘Drinking Habits’ in 2012, the group couldn’t resist revisiting the characters and their high jinx, and they have been hard at work on a sequel. Fans of the first show will be delighted to learn that ‘Drinking Habits 2 – Caught In The Act’  will be staged at Westport Town Hall Theatre next week for four nights, from Monday to Friday, February 4 to 8.
The play is billed as a ‘warm and hilarious’ follow-up to ‘Drinking Habits’. Director Liz Browne promises another comic treat – and with her wealth of experience, audiences can be assured of her judgement. Liz joined St Patrick’s Drama Group at the beginning of this century, when she starred in ‘The King of Coveyland’. While she has since acted in many of the group’s productions, her favourite role to date was Peggy in ‘Stolen Child’.
Liz has also directed many productions for the group. Her directorial debut, ‘Widows Paradise’,  was followed by ‘The Field’, ‘Soft Ground Soul’, ‘Major John MacBride’, and of course the first ‘Drinking Habits’.
Liz and the entire cast and crew, including producer Nuala Currid and new cast member Conor O’Neill, have thoroughly enjoyed preparing for this production, with loads of laughs along the way – laughs that they can’t wait to share with audiences loyal and new.
