Claremorris ready to twist and shout

Going Out

BEATLES TRIBUTE The Mersey Beatles will perform in Claremorris Town Hall next month.

Mayo is bracing itself for Beatlemania as the former resident band in Liverpool’s iconic Cavern Club come to town. The Mersey Beatles – described by John Lennon’s sister Julia Baird as the ‘most authentic’ Beatles tribute act she has ever seen – will play the Town Hall Theatre Claremorris on December 14.
Like the original band, The Mersey Beatles are four lads from Liverpool. They have been been recreating the sights and sound of The Beatles with their authentic and distinctly Liverpool flavoured tribute since 1999. Their ten-year residency at the Cavern, the birthplace of The Beatles, helped to hone their skills and expanded their repertoire.
A two-hour Mersey Beatles concert is a genuine Beatles extravaganza, with around 40 songs and no less than four costumes changes and a multimedia backdrop to enhance the experience. In the first half it’s all about the Beatlemania years, with songs like ‘All My Loving’, ‘She Loves You’, ‘I Want To Hold Your Hand’, ‘Love Me Do’ and ‘I Saw Her Standing There’.
In the second half things get psychedelic with songs from the Sgt Pepper LP, and after a quick costume change it’s onto the studio years with a special selection of songs from The White Album (now in its 50th anniversary year) as well as hits from the Abbey Road and Let It Be albums. Often launching into an impromptu request or playing a lesser-known Beatles classic for true aficionados, The Mersey Beatles interact with the audience with an easy charm reminiscent of the original fab four.
Their performance in Claremorris comes hot on the heels of extensive tours in the US and the UK.

Ticket, €22 each, are available from the Claremorris Town Hall Theatre box office at 094 9310999 or at townhall.ie/tickets.
