Choral music for Chernobyl in Castlebar

Castlebar’s ‘Drop-in Choir’ will present their summer concert in Christchurch, Castlebar on this Thursday, June 14 June at 8pm. The concert will feature a range of special guests, including the ‘Westport Singers’. Entry is free, with donations to Chernobyl Children International appreciated.
The ‘Drop-in Choir’ is directed by classically-trained Lithuanian soprano Aušra Kvietkute, who is also a piano teacher at the Mayo School of Music. An accomplished pianist, she has accompanied many choirs, including the Westport Children’s Choir, the Mayo School of Music Youth Choir and the Cill Aodáin Choral Society.
A variety of guests will perform at the concert. These include the Westport Singers, under the direction of Joseph Garvey; Bettina Peterseil, who will read poetry on the night, and harpist Emma Lawlor. Violinist Iain King, originally from Scotland but now living near Ballina, will also perform on the night. He has played with the Philharmonic Orchestra (first chair) and the English Chamber Orchestra (assistant leader).  
A beautiful night of music is in store and the ‘Drop-in Choir’ look forward to welcoming you to the charming surroundings of Christchurch, Castlebar, in support of an excellent cause.
