The 2018 Westport Food Festival, which takes place from Friday, June 29, to Sunday, July 1, was officially launched by Minister for Rural and Community Development Michael Ring last week.
As always, the festival programme will have something for everyone from mini chefs right up to fully fledged foodies. Highlights include the Midsummer Banquet at Westport House and the Food Village on the Fairgreen with a full complement of stalls, activities, workshops and chef demonstrations.
Other attractions include the fast food race, seaweed and mushroom foraging, gourmet kayaking with Clew Bay Bike Hire and gin, wine and whiskey appreciation with Foody Tours.
“This is set to be the best Westport Food Festival ever,” said festival chairman Eoin McDonnell (head chef at the Wyatt Hotel). “Enquiries are coming in from all over the country – from people wanting to take stalls at the food village and others wanting to book tickets for events.”
The full programme and further details will be available on the website www.westportfoodfestival.ie. Keep an eye on Facebook and Twitter too, for up to the moment festival updates and foodie information.
