Cork comedian returns to Castlebar

Going Out

‘HILARIOUS’  Rebel County funny man Chris Kent.

Cork comedian Chris Kent brings his fifth solo show, Moving On, to The Linenhall Arts Centre on Friday, February 2, at 8pm. Returning with his charming and surreal style, he has a new perspective on life. Having moved to the UK and recently becoming a dad for the first time, adult life is leaving him more confused than ever….
Kent first emerged onto the Irish comedy scene in 2009 after winning the Bulmers Nuttin’ But Funny competition. In 2010, he made his debut at one of Ireland’s biggest comedy festivals in Dublin’s Iveagh Gardens. His compelling storytelling then went on to win him the Comedy Smack Down Award at the Galway Comedy Festival later that year.
He quickly established himself on the Irish circuit and became sought out to open for some of his favourite acts, including Dylan Moran, David O’ Doherty, PJ Gallagher and Neil Delamare.
In 2012 Chris was listed as ‘One To Watch’ in The Dubliner Magazine’s Red Hot and Rising slot, and he went on to appear at the prestigious Cat Laughs festival in Kilkenny. Since then he has successfully toured four shows, and brought ‘Moving On’ to the Glasgow International Festival and the Edinburgh Fringe last year. Well received by the critics, The Mirror’s reviewer gave Kent’s comedy five stars, saying: “Original hilarious material … Among the best acts I’ve seen.”
