Mayo singer/songwriter Seamus Fogarty will perform in Castlebar’s beautiful Christ Church on Friday, November 3. Born and raised four miles from Swinford, Fogarty now resides in London, and the city provides the soundscape-rich canvas for his latest album, ‘The Curious Hand’, released on October 6.
The full-length album, Fogarty’s second, follows his well-received debut ‘God Damn You Mountain’ (2012), and an EP,  Ducks and Drakes (2015), released in between. It was produced by Fogarty in collaboration with Leo Abrahams (Brian Eno, Wild Beasts).
Described as an ‘alt-folk and electronica alchemist’, Fogarty’s melodic yet experimental brand of everyday-noise-laden folk has garnered much praise from critics in the BBC, The Irish Times and elsewhere.
‘The Curious Hand’ is already picking up applause, with The Guardian dubbing it a ‘stunning, mercurial album’: “Held together by Fogarty’s lovely unadorned voice, it constantly unwinds and uncoils, taking us on magical journeys through fable and modern life and back again, often in the same song.”
