THE ‘Now That’s What I Call Music’ albums can strike a chord with almost everybody from some stage in their lives, and now it will be brought back to life by a new professional singing group from the West of Ireland called VoxFusion.
The 18 singers that make up the group come from a wide range of musical backgrounds which include classical, gospel and contemporary, and for one night only they are going to perform a repertoire of songs from the 80s on August 25, in the Bridge Street Bar, Castlebar.
Under the vocal directorship from renowned music director, Kathy Fahey, VoxFusion are a wonderfully soulful and exciting group of singers whose performances centre around delivering a high entertainment level to their audience.
Siobhan Shiel, one of the founding members of the band, gave The Mayo News a brief insight into what the show is about and what the audience can expect.“Now That’s What I Call VoxFusion is based on the ‘Now’ music albums which began in the 80s, and I think we all have at least one of those in the collection,” she laughed. “It is going to be an entertaining night with really high quality music. Every song will awake a memory and the crowd will know every chorus, maybe even every word. We just want the audience to jump out of their seats, sing along with us and have a bit of a boogie.”

Full band
VoxFusion will be accompanied by a full band on the night, which really enhances the experience of their live show.
The band has been together since January of this year and have amassed plenty of interest since bursting onto the scene and their members span from the likes of Ballina, Castlebar, Westport and Balla
Band members include: Siobhan Shiel, Kathy Fahey, Cathal McHale, Mary Grealis, Aisling Lyons, Paul O’Brien, Kevin Baker-O’Haire, Lorraine McGrory, Marie O’Connor, Ausra Kvietkute, Niamh O’Connor, Sheila Sheridan, Elaine McEvilly, Gerard Baliey, Mark Norton, David Cunningham, Regina Corrigan and Emma Jane McHale.
Their repertoire of songs can cater for a wide range of events and will be performing a variety of gigs throughout the next 12 months.
Such is the popularity of VoxFusion, the band had no choice but to rearrange a second gig for the same night to try and cater for all, and Siobhan revealed they have been blown away by the support.
“We wanted a small venue to introduce ourselves to Castlebar but the demand was so great we had to put on two gigs on Friday evening,” she said. “The first one is at 7pm and the second at 9.30pm. Both gigs will be quite intimate, located in the large function room upstairs in the Bridge Street Bar. This will give everyone a chance to really enjoy the music and let their hair down.”
