After the success of his dance at Hotel Newport this time last year, Peter Mylett is hoping for another turnout on the same scale this Saturday at the same venue. After an absence of thirteen years from performing in his home town, Peter took a chance on having a dance there in 2016.
“I didn’t know what to expect, because I was aware during my time away, that quite a few big band names had emerged on the country scene. I hoped that people would still turn-out to see a solo act, and that they did. We had a great night,” said Peter.
The singer’s career started back in 1983 when he performed in local pubs in west Mayo along with popular singer ‘Paddy Joe’. He then moved to England where he has lived for nearly 30 years, making quite a mark on the music scene as a solo performer and winning numerous awards for his vocal talent.
He released a number of albums including a number of best sellers including ‘My home place in Mayo’ and ‘Requested Favorites’. He has shared the stage with Brendan Shine and Mick Flavin and in 2012 he celebrated 25 years in the music business and received a special award from the Irish World Newspaper at a gala black tie event in London.
Peter continues to fly the Mayo flag at all his gigs up and down the UK and loves to come back home when possible. I know his many family and friends will be along for his once a year show in his native town of Newport this Saturday night next, August 26, with dancing from 10pm until late. Doors open at 9.30pm, admission is €7.
