Sonamus musicak ensemble in the Linenhall

The highly acclaimed musical ensemble that is Sonamus will play the Linenhall Arts Centre this Thursday, October 6, at 8pm.
Sonamus combines the the talents of four highly-respected Irish musicians from the traditional, classical and early music worlds, with Cormac Breathnach on whistles, Eamon Sweeney on early and classical guitars, Rachel Factor on harpsichord and Annette Cleary on cello. The unique combination of instruments in Sonamus creates a beautiful and unique sound that allows the group to explore a wide repertoir in their performances of Irish music from the last 700 years.  
The group performs at the Linenhall Arts Centre as part of their national tour which follows the release of their hugely acclaimed debut album ‘Music of Ireland’. Their performance will provide the audience with an opportunity to hear music that was enjoyed by all strata of Irish society from the 17th century to the present day and reflects Ireland’s extraordinarily broad musical heritage. The concert will feature compositions by Cormac Breathnach, Roger Doyle and Donal Lunny, traditional music, 17th century Baroque music from France and Ireland, Irish harp tunes and romantic arrangements of Irish traditional music.
