FIRST-time author, Angie Coady’s novel, ‘The Bumble Bee Key’, will be launched in Seamus Duffy’s bookshop, Westport, on Saturday evening, October 1, as part of the Westport Arts Festival.
No stranger to Westport, Dublin native Angie is sister of the well-known vet Cathy Waddell. Indeed, she lived in the Mayo town for three years, sometimes assisting her sister with her veterinarian appointments, as well as working for a time at Hughes’ Fashions (now Portwest) and Corco Electro a music shop.
“My first inspiration to write a book came to me while in Westport, and although I did not write a book then, I brought those early ideas into ‘The Bumble Bee Key’ in the form of the character known as Dabble,” she tells The Mayo News.
The central  character in her book is Cathy Devon, who has been married to Seán for only one year when tragedy strikes. After three horrendous, grief-stricken years, Cathy finds the strength to face the world again, and applies for a job as a live-in nanny.
Cathy discovers that her new employer, Robert, has been recently widowed and has three children. Strange things continuously happen at the house and Cathy soon uncovers hidden family secrets and, bizarrely, finds that she has strong connections to the house in her past. She has been there before, and she wonders what force has brought her back, and why. Cathy delves deeper and tries to find answers and uncover the truth.

Angie Coady’s ‘The Bumble Bee Key’ will be launched at Seamus Duffy’s Bookshop, Bridge Street, Westport, at 6pm, on October 1. All are welcome.
