After an absence of 13 years Peter Mylett is to perform in his hometown of Newport on Saturday night, August 6, in Hotel Newport.
Peter Mylett has lived in the UK for 27 years, and he has made quite a mark on the Irish music scene there as a solo performer, winning numerous awards for his vocal talent.
In 2012, The Irish World newspaper celebrated 25 years in business and marked the occasion by honouring people who had made in impact in the world of music, sport and business, and Mylett picked up the gong for the Best Male Vocalist.
Peter grew up with a great interest in singing. His first album, ‘My Home Place In Mayo’, launched him on the music circuit in the late 1980s. He emigrated to the northwest of England in 1989, and since then he has shared the stage with many touring bands from Ireland, including Mick Flavin, Brendan Shine, Mary Duffy and many more.
Now based in Manchester, Mylett has built up a great following on the cabaret circuit and has released a number of albums including ‘Requested Favorites’.
He has performed on a number of occasions at the Liverpool Empire, hosted by Radio Merseyside, and has made a number of appearances on Irish TV.
“I am really looking forward to this night,” says Peter. “My last performance in Newport was back in August 2003 at The Bridge Inn, and it was a fantastic night.”
The audience can expect a lively mixture of country and Irish, folk and pop music. Doors open at 9.30pm.

Tickets available on the door at €5. Dancing ’til late.
