Whistle-stop tour bound to be a blast

The WhistleBlast Quartet is returning to Mayo to facilitate a series of concerts in primary and secondary schools around the county, providing young people with fun-filled, accessible classical music concerts.
The musicians – Ken Edge (saxophones and clarinet), Mary Curran (French horn), Síle Daly (oboe and cor Anglais) and Andrew Synnott (piano) – will be visiting students of all ages in Westport and in Charlestown Arts Centre.
The quartet will also perform a free family concert suitable for everybody in the community to enjoy at the Mill Times Hotel, Mill Street, Westport, at 6.30pm on Wednesday, February 20. The main part of the performance will include Saint Saen’s ‘Danse Macabre’, Prokofiev’s ‘Montagues and Capulets’ from Romeo and Juliet, the James Bond themes and much more.
Children from Knockrooskey NS will perform a song that they will have composed with the group, along with some young pipers.
The WhistleBlast Quartet is the only group of its kind in Ireland providing young people and adults with accessible classical music and a sense of magical fun through its programming.
Everyone is welcome.
