MUSIC Louisburgh Street Festival around the corner

Gearing up for Louisburgh’s street festival

As the August Bank Holiday weekend draws closer preparations are well under way for this year’s Louisburgh Music Street Festival. The 2010 event is shaping up to be another fun-filled weekend in the small costal town, with Lighting Strikes, Mick Flavin and Abba Delicious among the acts confirmed.
The Louisburgh Music Street Festival was reignited last year after a several-year hiatus and was hugely successful. Putting the festival together in the current gloomy economic environment has been no mean feat, however, reveals the Festival Committee secretary, Simon Cronin: “Fundraising has been tough this year … but we’re getting there.”
To help raise some more money, the committee is ‘giving it one final push’ this Saturday with a massive gala night at The West View Hotel. The entertainment will include performances by All Ireland Talent Show Finalist Emma O’Sullivan, The Morrison Sisters and several other local music acts, with something for all tastes guaranteed. Tickets for the event are priced at €10 and are available from The West View Hotel. Doors open at 10pm.
Louisburgh Music Street Festival 2010 comes on the back of a very eventful year in the town, with several high profile events and festivals taking place – The Féile Cois Cuain traditional-music festival in May, Tri-Burgh in June and the Louisburgh Horse Show and Carrowniskey Races last month.
