Westport company secure ground breaking QVC deal
CARRAIG Donn Manufacturing of Westport have secured a major ground-breaking contract for its contemporary and design lead knitwear, with the world’s largest US teleshopping channel, QVC. The deal is worth in the region of $1.2m at retail.
The designer knitwear will be featured on QVC’s mainstream shows starting next November and deal is being heralded as ‘a major achievement’ for the company. This is the first time that an Irish knitwear company will be featured on QVC mainstream shows.
Claremorris businesses hand in petition over parking charges
A CONCERN over the viability of local businesses in Claremorris town centre, in the face of competition from multi-nationals on the outskirts of the town, has prompted a petition with over 700 signatures to be handed into Mayo County Council.
The petition organised by Cllr Tom Connolly calls on the council to allow one hour free parking on the streets of Claremorris and a special meeting on the parking charges is due to take place before the end of the month.
Mayo hurlers make two changes for crunch tie
THE Mayo hurling team to play Down in the Christy Ring Cup tomorrow (Saturday) at 2.30pm in Charlestown has been named. Manager Martin Brennan has made two changes with Corofin footballer Kieran McGrath coming into the defence in place of Derek McDonnell while Martin Devaney is named in attack instead of Brian Hunt. Mayo’s dual star, Keith Higgins, wears the number 10 shirt.
