A native of Kilgeever, Louisburgh, she was daughter of the late Patrick and Bridget O’Grady and was aged 89 years.
Anne emigrated to the USA as a young woman and she worked as a court clerk in the City Courthouse in Worchester, Massachussets until she retired in 1998. She was presented with a “Key to the City” by Mayor Raymond Mariano in recognition of her ‘39 years of dedicated public service’.
A year later Anne decided to retire to Westport and took up residence at Woodpark at Westport Quay. She was a woman of deep faith and had great devotion to Our Lady of Knock, regularly attending night vigils and novenas at the well-known Marian Shrine.
She will be sadly missed by her nephews, nieces, grandnephews, grandnieces, sisters-in-law, cousins and many friends.
Following repose at Sweeney’s Funeral Home, Louisburgh, removal took place to St Patrick’s Church, Louisburgh where Fr Mattie Long, PP, officiated at the reception ceremony.
The concelebrants of Anne’s funeral Mass were Fr Mattie Long, Fr Leo Morahan, Fr Paddy Gill and An tAthair Pádraig O’Máille. She was laid to rest in Kilgeever Cemetery. May her soul rest in peace
