Elvis Costello and ABC to play at Westport festival
Last June, Westport House hosted the Westport Festival of Music and Performing Arts for the first time, and it was a massive success. Next year, the festival – renamed the Westport Festival of Music and Food – will be held on Saturday, June 29, and Sunday, June 30.
Over the weekend, the organisers announced the first acts for the 2013 festival – the legendary Elvis Costello and his band the Imposters and iconic ’80s band ABC. It has since emerged that Riptide Movement, The Blind Boys of Alabama and Julie Feeney have been added to the line-up.
Once again set on the stunning 400-acre site in the heart of Westport town, the festival will be a two-day celebration of music and food, embracing local and international rock, folk, celtic and acoustic sounds.
The event is all about creating a relaxed and friendly vibe, offering top-class festival facilities and showcasing delicious local food.
The combination of a winning line-up, multiple stages, family-friendly camping facilities, the on-site Westport House Pirate Adventure Park, beautiful grounds and sunshine after the rain proved a huge hit with thousands of revellers last year.
Special low-price early-bird tickets for the 2013 festival are on sale now for a limited period, or until sold out. They are available on the festival website, www.westportfestival.com. An adult weekend ticket costs €105 (normal rate is €130); Adult day ticket, €60 (normal rate €75); teen (13-17 years old) weekend ticket, €50; teen day ticket, €30; children under 12, free. These tickets do not include camping. Festival tickets with camping can only be purchased through Westport House (www.westporthouse.ie).
